International School Twinning Project: India & Merseyside

Co-funded by Creative Partnerships and Merseyside ACME

SAFE and Twin Vision came together to deliver this international school twinning project; a process of inclusively creating three mosaics, two in Indian schools and one in Liverpool, was documented through photography and film production. Exhibitions were held in both India and Liverpool Working locally with Blacklow Brow Primary School (Huyton, Merseyside) the project was an eminent example of promoting a global dimension to childhood learning MEDIA

Children in both countries were given cameras in order to observe and record their environments. The resultant imagery formed part of two exhibitions (one in each country), the second exhibition also including the screening of a short film documenting the project’s progress in both countries The photography was used to design mosaics sited in the participating schools, providing a permanent visual legacy The project involved four Merseyside artists travelling to Northern India and working with Jadan School and Ajmer School for the Deaf The children in India mirrored the work undertaken by those in Blacklow on Merseyside, culminating in an exhibition of both streams of work
